Auditions

Hey there guys, at the moment RKanoid are holding auditions for a new lead singer. We decided to do that because our old lead singer wasn't commited. Basically we are looking for a person who really doesn't give a crap what others think. We have already got someone in mind but I am not going to let it slip yet. Well once we have a new singer, I'll post up the results and possibly a photo of the new band yuh! Maybe they will be the next William Hung!!!

Well, see ya soon!

What the?!? Again...

Hey guys

I have just realised that our band has not practised properly since the rockquest. That is slack in my opinion. Oh well, next week I must organise a practise so we can actually get a new song on the way. Our drummer Regan McGrath has already came up with a riff so yeah, one of the hardest parts are completed, finito.

Our blogsite has became a haven for my thoughts which is quite obvious cause I have jotted down nearly every single thought here. I have told the band that they can do the same so watch this space. I must give them the password! I was listening to Michael Buble the other day and I was like in a trance...maybe I am diversing into different styles of music cause I am starting to really love jazz...WHAT THE?!? How can a rock chick love jazz? Well easily I guess. It all started at the Rhapsody Rotorua workshop which took place on the last day of last term. I went into the classical workshop which was pretty cool. I learned how to warm up my breathing and my voice to get a better pitch and tone. Then we went into the jazz workshop where I learned how to scatt. Man it is soooooo easy. We sung Centerpiece and two other songs which I can't remember the name of. I got to scatt along with my other pals from Opotiki College all by myself at the night performance which was really cool. This random as chick came up to me and was like "geez you are a great scatter!" which was pretty cool. There was this other guy who was in the other group and OMG he so has a kool jazz voice! He kind of reminded me of Michael Buble lol.

Well I better go and actually do some work lol.

Oh my gosh!

Hey guys.

Today I just found out that Brandon Flowers is married and that they just had a baby boy! Awww that is sooooo cute. Last weekend we had the ball and OMG it sucked. No one was dancing and like the music was totaly crap. I heard that Mr McGhies band got told not to play anymore so yeah that sucked. All the hip hop crazy chix had fun though coz that is like all they played. I was sooooo depressed. Next year there should be a mixture of classics, rock and hiphop.

Today in chemistry, this guy called Ezra Luxton (BOO!) sprayed butanoic acid on Lance Harray's shoes and OMG he smelt like rotten cheese! I kinda felt sorry for the poor sod seeing as everyone was like making fun of his stinky shoes. How demeaning is that though. Everyone in class laughing their heads off at you. . .gosh that has gotta suck. How would they feel if they smelt like stinky cheese.

Well here are some more pics lol.

This guy is in our band!

Heyyya

Hi...I was looking on the set for my band profile and I found a hideous picture of us performing at the regional finals...well it's not that bad but yeah. We like wrote a song today...we are thinking of basing it on the maori song oma rapiti...run rabit that is...it is kinda death metally but it's not...it is also kinda like RHCP (Red Hot Chilli Peppers). Oh yeah I also saw this funny as pic of the one and only Brandon Flowers. He is like my idol...I'll also add that too.
I love The Killers. Especially that 'For Reasons Unknown' song. Mr Mcghie's band is gonna play some songs from The Killers at the ball!!! They will be playing my other two favourite songs 'Mr Brightside' and When You Were Young'!. I LOVE THE KILLERS!!!! I saw their 'for reasons unknown' video clip and I saw Brandon Flowers playing the BASS!!! I play the bass too lol. YOU ROCK BRANDON FLOWERS...YOU ALL ROCK MAN!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU GUYS LIVE!!! PUHLEASE COME TO NEW ZEALAND...PRETTY PLEASE...FOR ME LOL :P

Ooops!

Heeya

Yesterday's practise was crap. We didn't do anything productive, except alter peoples names on the board lol. I saw a fish in the pond by my house and it was dead. Maybe I should write a song about dead fish. That'll be cool man. I have been seen as weird, maybe I am, but I am not. I just like to wear what I feel and if I feel like wearing black, well Ima gonna weara black-uh. GOSH! We just found out that we gonna have a new english teacher which really sux coz both of their teaching styles are different. My current teacher is more laid back whereas my new one is more RAHDEERAHDEERAH if you catch my drift. Well I have to go coz I gotta write my bio for YES. If you don't know what that is go on to www.keitepai-youngenterprise.blogspot.com. You'll see a pic of me and regan. Ta ta :D

Smokefreerockquest

Hey Guys...

Last weekend my band competed at Baycourt in Tauranga. We didn't come anywhere but we had fun. Last minute we found out that the screw on the bass guitar fell out (the screw where you plug the lead in that is) so yeah we were stuffed. Luckily the meanest band that was there, Falling Set's Fire from Trident, let me use their bass guitar. The saying, you must get used to your guitar before you perform, certaintly is right. I stuffed up a bit because the strings were too thin but oh well at least I didn't have to do air bass...thanx guys.

The sound quality of our performance was totaly crap. I went to turn up the bass but the stupid sound man turned it back down. Regan, the drummer, couldn't even hear me! Gosh. But that's not as bad as the lighting. Sam, the lighting man, told me that the lighting was basic compared to the other bands. How unfair is that? They so didn't want little ol' Opotiki getting good marks did they? Oh well ce la vie! I had fun and so did the rest of us except for Cameron...he looked soo upset. Cameron, if you're reading this...you rock man and yeah! Even when you make mistakes, it still sounds cool so don't go hating on your self man.

In the mosh pit, we had a few supporters, you guys rock man and you know who you are!, which was pretty cool. There were so many good bands man. I couldn't believe the quality of their performances lol. There was this really kool band who tried to break a guitar but all they did was put a hole in it. Hahahahahaahahahahahahadeeedaaaa. I'm sure our guitar breaking skills are way better! Hehehehehehehehehehehe the SANTANIC CANNIBALS were sooo funny...in a good way! All I could hear were moans and groans from the audience about how heavy their metal is...do you get it? First place was Fletcher, second place was The Escape and third place was FALLING SETS FIRE!!! The people's choice award was to Random but I didn't think that they should have gotten that. They were cool and all but there were better bands coz both of their songs sounded too much the same.

The band that performed last...Trigger Theory I think...were sooooooooooooo kewl. I can't wait till their EP comes out! That drummer guy was sooooo hott. He was the greatest drummer that I have ever seen, next to Regan ya'll. He can bang my drums any day hehehehehehe. Sorry bout that...my bad. We have practise this avo and I can't wait. Hopefully Regan turns up coz she aint at school. If you want to check out our profile on the set have a gawk yuh.

Well ta ta till tomorrow

Who's who

Heya guys...
Welcome to RKanoid's official blog.

We are the only rock band to have come from Opotiki College. We got together at the beggining of March I think and have been together ever since. Regan McGrath, the drummer, and me Samantha Webb, the bass guitarist, were previously in the band WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). The new members are Cameron Dyer, lead guitarist, and Jared Gullet, rhythm guitarist, and Eleanor Newton, Vocalist.

We have all come from different backgrounds and we all like different stuff. Most of us are into rock but some of us are into RnB and Hip Hop (not me though!). At the moment we have two songs, Every days Tuesday and We're going down y'all. With the help of Miss Liu, our music teacher, and Mr McGhie, our experienced drum teacher, we have created two master pieces (well in our minds anyway).

Rock on man!
Samantha
